Senator

Hi I’m Karen Muscat Herman, and I'm excited to be your Senator with the Barrie-South Simcoe Metis Council.

My family are descendents from Drummond Island to Penetanguishine, and a descendent of John Baptism Trudeau.  I have been following the path of my family for years to include my Uncle Larry and my brother Tony.  I am thankful for my mother who has instilled strong family values to carry on our Metis heritage.  Together we have been active citizens helping Moon River become a region of their own in various activities since we received our Metis Nation of Ontario card.  I love learning and then teaching new crafts and traditions.  I have been beading our beautiful flowers for years and recently learned to make traditional earrings.

I have been employed by Royal Victoria regional hospital for over 25 years in the preschool speech department as a communication disorders assistant.  My entire career has revolved around empowering preschool children and their families.

I am excited and looking forward to being able to contribute to the Barrie-South Simcoe Métis council in my new role.
