Métis Sash Gifting Ceremony

On Wednesday, April 26 the Métis Nation of Ontario and the OPP Indigenous Policing Bureau had a Métis Sash Gifting Ceremony in Orillia.
Some of those in attendance from the OPP were the Indigenous Policing Bureau Commander Superintendent, the Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner, and Ontario Provincial Police Deputy Commissioner.
Barrie Métis Council President Roxanne Shank, Chairman Tony Muscat, Youth Rep Katelyn Cudmore, and Councillor Jeremy Scott were also in attendance. Jeremy said both the opening and closing prayers, and the council gifted 3 OPP officers who are MNO Citizens with sashes.
It was an amazing event and almost 50 OPP officers were present for this ceremony. All of the OPP who received a sash had family present for the ceremony.
The next gifting ceremony will be at our AGM on Sunday October 22, 2023 in Barrie.
