Iver: A Winter Métis Youth Culture Camp
Iver: A Winter Métis Youth Culture Camp
Friday, January 22nd- Sunday, January 24th, 2020 – Virtually through Zoom
The Métis Nation of Ontario is holding the Iver: Winter Métis Youth Culture Camp on January 22nd-24th across the province virtually through the Zoom platform.
The camp will be approximately 2.5 days in duration, and will host a variety of workshops per day focused on land based knowledge, storytelling, cultural arts and community building. The camp schedule is as follows:
- Friday, January 22nd- 6-9 pm (EST)
- Saturday, January 23rd - 9 am- 4 pm (EST)
- Sunday, January 24th - 9 am- 4 pm (EST)
Programming will be in sync with the winter season and will engage Métis youth in learning Métis culture and way of life. The age group targeted is the same as the previous Métis Youth Cultural Camps (youth in Grades 10, 11, 12).
While the format is different from past years, we have created a camp that hopes to connect Métis youth to their culture and be able to practice traditional skills and knowledge in their own communities. This is particularly important as many Métis youth seek to connect with their Métis culture and heritage. The cultural fall camp will engage youth through interactions with Métis knowledge holders, PCMNO Senators, MNO staff and facilitators in events/activities that will span the duration of the camp.
Space is limited, so please register and complete the application as soon as possible. Participants can access the Metis Nation of Ontario Application Portal at https://metisnation.smapply.io/.
